Launched in 1996 and based in Hackney, East London, the Building Exploratory helps people to discover the secrets of their local area and gain a better understanding of the buildings and spaces that surround them.
Inspiring is just one way of describing the unique resource that is the Building Exploratory. Our interactive exhibition leaves a lasting impression on most visitors – whoever they are, whatever their age.
Empowering audiences as diverse as Year 2 pupils and pensioner’s groups lies at the heart of the Building Exploratory’s vision. Our aim is to put communities in touch with their environment and the way it works.
Innovative programmes are the touchstone of the way we have developed our exhibition, working closely with school children, local residents, partner organisations, private companies and others to build a resource that has resonance and relevance.
