EDUCATION

Primary schools

Our primary schools workshops have been designed to be cross-curricular and to meet National Curriculum requirements in subjects as diverse as art and design, maths, science, design and technology, geography, history and PSHE/citizenship.

Pupils are given the chance to explore the local area, discover Hackney’s past, take part in hands-on construction workshops exploring shapes, structures and buildings and much more. Click here for a list of our current primary school workshops.

Bespoke workshops can also be designed to meet individual class needs and we are able to cater for SEN and extended school groups. Please contact Claire Toogood or Ashley McCormick on 020 7249 9220 or education@buildingexploratory.org.uk to book a workshop, a teacher INSET session or discuss any aspect of our Primary schools programme.

Introduction of workshop charges:

The Building Exploratory has previously provided our high quality, professionally led, interactive workshops to schools in Hackney free of charge. However, due to the limited availability of funding for this programme and the rising cost of staff and materials for our newly developed sessions, it has become unsustainable for us to continue to provide a free service. Therefore, it is with regret that from this summer term we will be introducing a charge for school workshops.

From Monday 21st April 2008 the following charges will be introduced:

Key Stage 1 workshops (max. 35 pupils) 60mins £60.00 per session

Key Stage 2 workshops (max. 35 pupils) 90mins £90.00 per session

Schools will be invoiced for workshops when their booking is finalised.

We hope that your school will continue to use the Building Exploratory's exciting workshops and unique resources to support your work and we look forward to seeing your classes joining us soon.
